MRA, Recreational Riding And Other Motorcycling Activities
For OCTOBER and NOVEMBER 2009
Hi Everyone,
Do we have two months of activities coming up to keep your weekends full and your engines running. Also, ALL riders are welcome on MRA rides, members or not. The MRA ACT also offers coaching and feedback to riders preparing for the MOST and in all areas of Roadcraft. This is a free facility provided by the MRA ACT to support a fun yet safer motorcycle riding community, just call Pete.
October 2009 - MOTORCYCLE AWARENESS MONTH
Saturday 3rd Oct - Discovery Ride led by Rob- meeting at Robbo's Fyshwick at 0930 for a 10:00 departure. The ride is tailored to the needs of the group and is paced at the speed of the slowest rider. It is to introduce new and returning riders or riders looking for a no pressure ride to riding in a group environment and promotes roadcraft and rider safety.
Sunday 4th Oct - E-Vehicle Festival Old Parliament House - 0900 to 1600 on the lawns of Old Parliament House, come see the Tesla that can out accelerate a Ferrari and a range of e-bikes as well.
Saturday 10th Oct - Victory over Prostate Cancer. - Organised by the Vietnam Vets, form up at Murrumbateman leaving at 10:00 (Flyer Attached). Note club with biggest attendance gets a $500 paintball voucher.
Tuesday 13th Oct - MRA ACT general meeting, come along and have your say about how we can improve motorcycling in the ACT. The MRA meets at the Harmonie Club at Narrabundah with the meeting starting at 1930 and dinner and a chat starting at about 1830.
Friday 16th to Sunday 18th - MotoGP at Phillip Island - enjoy the trip and remember have a fun time but the road ain't a race track its barely good enough to ride on.
Saturday 17th Oct - Discovery Ride led by Pete, meeting at Robbo's Fyshwick at 0930 for a 10:00 departure. The ride is tailored to the needs of the group and is paced at the speed of the slowest rider. It is to introduce new and returning riders or riders looking for a no pressure ride to riding in a group environment and promotes roadcraft and rider safety. MOST practice at EPIC at the end of the ride. Come along a great opportunity to practice and get some feedback.
Saturday 17th Oct - Rec Riding at Fairbairn Park - bring you registered or unregister dirt bike out to Fairbairn Park for LEGAL off road riding for you and your family. (Flyer attached). Riders must be over 4 years old, licence optional, appropriate safety gear is a must, and your ride must be in reasonable mechanical nick (death traps i.e no brakes and excessive noise sorry can't do - however DSMRA riders are there for advice and coaching). Sunday 18th Oct- Social Ride - Up to the mountains. A ride to Tumbarumba leaving Ampol Williamsdale at 0900. This should be a great ride but if the weather turns foul an alternate destination will be determined on the day.
Motorcycle Awareness Week
Saturday 24th Oct - Launch of Motorcycle Awareness Week - 0930 City Walk near the entrance to Canberra Centre, Bike displays, limited speeches and we need your support. BBQ at Black Mountain Peninsula after the launch.
Sunday 25th October - Pink Ribbon Ride and fun in the park afterwards a real family affair. Form up at Old Parliament House, departure at 10:00.
Thursday 29th - 7:30pm at the Italo Australian Club - Fashion on the Road, a fashion parade of the latest road safety gear, glamour models and a few hunks as well. Southcare will be there to let us know what they are doing.
Friday 30th - Ride to work Friday and remember wave to your fellow riders.
Friday 30th - Biker's Breakfast at Lennox Gardens behind the Albert Hall - 0730 - 10:00
SATURDAY 31st BIKE FEST 2009 10:30 to 1700 at Sutton Road Training complex, Stunt Riders, bike displays, band, food, Training, demo rides, stalls. Sponsored by Cunning Stunts.
NOVEMBER 2009
Saturday 7th of Nov - Rider Training by HART - Ride n Thrive Roadcraft Training - how to use your head and stop relying on your hands to get you out of the do-do. This is an 8 hour on road course costing $90 with the remainder subsidised by ACT Road Safety Trust money managed by the MRA ACT. Just logon to the Honda website www.honda.com.au to enrol.
