Ride report:
We gathered in the heat (note to self - must put hat in pannier. And sunscreen. And Aerogard) at the Hume Servo for a Chomp and Chat ride to Tidbinbilla. St Pedro addressed the faithful, admitted he didn’t know the way we needed to go, delegated Duncan as ride leader – Duncan shocking us by declaring he has turned over a new leaf and will be traveling at a sedate pace (let’s see how long this lasts!!) and then it was saddle up and off to the tracking station. We traveled down the highway to Johnson Drive, then directly along till the turn off to Point Hut. I noticed the river was up a bit, must be from the recent rain – but it certainly still has a long way to go till the crossing is in danger of overflowing!! We encountered the usual group of cyclists sweating away up the hills. ‘Nuff said!

The road near the Nature Reserve is newly tarred so we duly slowed down, although as we’d been anticipating gravel this was an improvement!! We settled into the café – rearranging the furniture as usual, and definitely not sitting outside!! Trevor arrived looking rather rakish – a Movember participant, which sparked talk of various hairy arrangements – and Cath enlightened us about the “Nemo” !!! Also much discussion about Janet’s new bike and her transition from a scooter!! The ride team also had an advance copy of the Ride Calendar to the end of January – have a look at it on the website and in the newsletter so you can plan ahead.

After a coffee for most of us (how does Gary McCurley tuck away so much food and stay slim??) and plenty of chatter, some of the group decided to have an extra run to have a look at Corin Dam, others wandered back via the Cotter. Thanks to the ride team for another great Chomp and Chat!!
