DESTINATION JINDABYNE 4 December 2011
The following people attended the ride:
GARRY MCCURLEY - HONDA VFR1200; RICHARD HAY - YAMMIE FJR1300; MIKE KELLY - BMW R1200RT; TREVOR MCLEOD - YAMMIE FJR1300; DIANNE ROBERSON - MOTTO GUZZI WORGK; PETER ARDAY - HONDA ST1300A; MARY COULTS - KAWA K2 1000; PETER HIGGS - KAWA GTR1400; FELICITY VAN DER ZWAN - BMW F800; LINDA BLAKE - HONDA CBR 1000F; HARTMUT KEHM - BMW R1200GS; RAE BAYRE - HARLEY HD FB 2008.
As the weather was a little disappointing and cold it was decided the ride would only go to Jindabyne & not continue onto Charlottes pass.
It was about 10 degrees when we left Canberra & dropped to about 8 degrees when we arrived at Cooma for morning tea.
Due to the coldness the group split into 3 after morning tea.
Some decided to go to Bega looking for warmer weather, some headed home while the rest of us continued onto Jindabyne for lunch via Dalgety.
However, before leaving Cooma for Dalgety we visited "Rivers Cooma" for a few to buy some warm clothing to wear under their bike gear in an attempt to beat the cold.
The ride to Dalgety then onto Jindabyne was very pleasant & scenic.
On arriving at Jindabyne we fuelled up the bikes & then continued onto the bakery at Nugget's Crossing for lunch.
After lunch Trevor very kindly lead us back to Cooma via the very scenic "Rocky Flat Road" & "Fish Creek Road" or was it "Rocky Fish Creek Road" - Pete Arday knows what I mean :-)
At Cooma we stopped for a peppermint Magnum but as the servo had none we had instead an entertaining discussion about "Seal Team No 6", said our good byes and headed into the "Average Speed Camera Star Gate" for the trip home.
While the day did not totally work out as planned, it ended up being a good day with a great comradery & I reckon that is what ridin' bikes is all about.
Thank you to all who made the day a good 1.
Garry Ride Leader for a day.
