LATEST MASTERS COURSE:
Peter Major from MRA ACT writes -
Hi Everyone,
Here is another opportunity provided by the MRA ACT and the NRMA Road Safety Trust to stay safe and improve your riding skills. This course will give you an insight into the skills needed to stay safe on the road by addressing attitude and roadcraft, and sharpening your riding skills by looking at how you ride, cornering, stopping and a number of other critical hand skills in the safe surrounds of an enclosed circuit.
So take the opportunity as we are picking up half the bill :-)
Ride Hard, Ride Safe,
Pete

Mature Age Skills Training for Experienced RiderS
The "MASTERS" Course is a defensive road skills course initiated by the Motorcycle Riders Association of the ACT, developed and conducted by Stay Upright Motorcycle Techniques and subsidised by the NRMA-ACT Road Safety Trust.
It is tailored to the needs of licensed riders returning to motorcycling after a lengthy break. The full day course is held at the Fairbairn Park Hillclimb Complex near Queanbeyan. At no time is there any testing or need to perform during the course. Riders do all exercises at their own pace.
A roadcraft seminar the evening before focuses on refreshing roadcraft skills and development of a safe riding plan for the road. The practical day covers many aspects of riding and technique. Throughout the course we continually explain the exercise then demonstrate the wrong way then the correct way. We pride ourselves in being able to analyse WHAT riders are doing and help them to become more aware of their limitations and riding techniques. The course delivery format is to explain, demonstrate, practice then evaluate. Pillions are welcome to attend. Please advise when booking if a pillion is attending. The morning session includes demonstrations of manoeuvring and cornering posture, normal and quick stops, counter steering, obstacle avoidance, slaloms etc at varying speeds.
The afternoon session is spent on cornering and is a very enjoyable learning process, with explanations and demonstrations in HOW and WHY you should do things, always at a speed which you are comfortable with.
