During the month of May it was decided by the branch committee to relocate our monthly social meetings.

It was unfortunate but with the early closing time of the previous location we were limited to the time we could take for our meetings and the services provided for the members.

The new location is open later, we have our own private function room to conduct our meetings and the bistro and bar services are available for a longer time allowing

everyone to enjoy the evening and even have a coffee or desert after the meeting or another drink if you like.

The bistro offers very generous meals at great prices, if your a local and have a meal at the bistro on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday you receive a 2 for 1 voucher

which can enable you to get two meals on the Wednesday night at the meeting for the price of one!!

It would be great to see everyone come down and check out the new venue.

LAWYER'S ADVICE  (NSW)

A  corporate LAWYER sent the following out to the employees in his company:

1. Next time you order cheques, have only your  initials (instead of your first name) and surname  put on them. If someone takes your cheque book, they will not know if you sign your cheques with just your initials or your first  name, but your bank will know how you sign your cheques.

2. Do not sign the  back of your credit cards. Instead, put "PHOTO ID REQUIRED".

3.  When you are writing cheques to pay on your credit card accounts, DO NOT put the complete account number on the  "For" line. Instead, just put the last four numbers.  The credit card company knows the rest of the number, and anyone who might  be handling your cheque as it passes through all the  cheque processing channels won't have access to it.

4.  Place your work phone number on your cheques instead of your home phone. If you have a PO Box,  use that instead of your home address. If you do not have a PO Box, use your work address. Never have your Centrelink Number printed on your cheques. You can add it  if it is necessary, but if you have it printed, anyone can get it.

5.  Run the contents of your wallet through a photocopy machine. Do both sides of each licence, credit card, etc. You  will know what you had in your wallet  and all of the account numbers and phone numbers to call and cancel. Keep the photocopy in a safe place (not your wallet). I also carry a photocopy of my passport when travelling either here or abroad.

We've all heard horror  stories about fraud that's committed on us in stealing a name, address, Social Security number, credit cards.

Unfortunately  I, an attorney, have first-hand knowledge because my wallet was stolen last month. Within a week, the thieves ordered  an expensive monthly mobile phone  package, applied for a VISA credit card, had a credit line  approved to buy a Dell computer, received a PIN number from DMV to change my driving record information on-line,  and more.

But  here's some critical information to limit the damage in case this happens to you or someone you know:

1.  We have been told we should cancel our credit cards immediately, but the key is having the toll free numbers and  your card numbers handy so you know whom to call. Keep those  where you can find them.

2.  File a police report immediately in the jurisdiction where your credit cards, etc., were stolen. This proves to credit  providers you were diligent, and this is a first step toward an investigation (if there ever is one).

3.  But here's what is perhaps most important of all: (I never even thought to do this.) Call  the three national credit reporting organisations immediately to place a fraud alert on your Tax  File Number your Passport number and Driver's licence number. I  had never heard of doing that until advised by a bank that  called to tell me an application for credit was made over the Internet in my name. The alert means any company that  checks your credit knows your information was  stolen, and they have to contact you by phone to authorise new credit. By the time I was advised to do this, almost two weeks after the theft, all the damage had been done.  There are records of all the credit checks initiated by the thieves' purchases, none of which I knew about before  placing the alert. Since then, no additional damage has been done, and the thieves threw my wallet away. This weekend someone handed it in. It  seems to have stopped them dead in their tracks.

Now,  here are some numbers which you might need to contact if your wallet etc has been stolen:

The Long Ride 2010

The Long Ride 2010 is in support of the Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia and is conducted to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer in particular and many other men's health issues.  The reason I am forwarding this email to you is to ask your help in promoting the Long Ride to all your members. The Long Ride was first conducted in 2007 in support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service but since last year is conducted in support of Prostate Cancer Awareness.  The Long Ride 2010 begins in May 2010 and is riding to Darwin, NT.  You will notice on the website, the actual commencement dates for the Long Ride for all regions across Australia.  There are also Delegates in all States who can assist riders who decide to do this ride.  Contact details for all principals for the Long Ride can be found on the Home page.

I have included a brief summary of what the aim of the Long Ride is and also some additional information that hopefully you can distribute throughout your members.

The Long Ride 2010 is designed to help you make a difference in your life and that of others.  If you want a challenge, to do something different, if you want to make a contribution to the community, then join the Long Ride and visit places you have never been, make new friends and above all make an impact. The long Ride 2010 begins in Sydney on Saturday 01 May 2010 and finishes in Darwin on Saturday 08 May 2010.  There will be 5 different routes winding to Darwin with riders meeting up in Charleville (VIC,NSW QLD), Tennant Creek (SA, VIC, NSW QLD) and Katherine when the WA riders meet up to make a most memorable ride.  To register or to find out more about this event email Chris Dunne at christopher.dunne@bigpond.com.au

According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in Australia (except for non-melanoma skin cancers) and the second greatest cause of cancer deaths in men. It is estimated that over 18,700 new cases were diagnosed in Australia. Tragically, more than 2,900 Australian men each year die from prostate cancer. In the early stages, there are few symptoms of prostate cancer; however, if detected early, prostate cancer is often treatable and curable. This is why men aged 50 and over, or 40 if there is a family history of prostate cancer, should not wait for symptoms; they should talk to their doctor about prostate cancer - a simple step that could save your life.

The Long Ride 2010 is designed to encourage you to do something totally different in your life.  It is about life on the road, meeting new people, and exploring your self as you do something you love to do - ride. The Long Ride 2010, in support of the Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia, will enable you to touch upon the freedom seldom experienced by riding around your local area; you can do this by taking a chance, meeting a new challenge and experiencing life on the road through the most beautiful country in the world.   There is no better way to spend your time and energy.

If you cannot do the ride, then please help spread the word to our men folk that they need to look after their health and to get checked at least annually. Apart from Prostate Cancer there are at least 50 other factors that men need to be aware of for their own continuing health and that of their mates.
