Kangaroo Valley Weekend

Friday 31 October

To

 Sunday 2 November

Come along and have a relaxing few days exploring the scenic Kangaroo Valley and the South Coast Region.

We are trying something a bit different with this ride.  This is a Friday to Sunday / Monday weekend instead of an October long weekend ride. We will be leaving Edgeworth Maca’s at 10 am on Friday

We will travel via the western suburbs of Sydney to the Southern Tablelands through Mittagong, Bowral and on to Kangaroo Valley.  It is planned to take a ride down the South Coast area on Saturday which will leave Sunday to explore Kangaroo Valley. www.kangaroovalleytourist.asn.au

Accommodation is available at the Kangaroo Valley Tourist Park.  Tentative bookings six cabins have been made under Lake Macquarie Ulysses / Trevor Cook, if you would like hard bed.  Please telephone Susan on 1300559977 to confirm one of these as your own booking.  First in best dressed as Susan is only holding these until the end of July so you will need to make a decision quickly and confirm a booking.  (Susan has offered half price for Sunday if you would like to stay Sunday Night.) There are vans and camping sites available.  The park can be viewed at http://www.kvtouristpark.com.au/cabins.html

The return journey will depend on your own arrangements as some members have indicated they may return via a number of different options such as Sea Cliff Bridge. http://seacliffbridge.com/

Please advise me by the October meeting of your intention to come along for what promises to be an enjoyable weekend ride.

Greenslips for Ulysses members

Hello

We would just like to update you on some changes which will update you on the Ulysses NSW Greenslips which has proven to be a HUGE benefit to many members.

We launched this benefit at the Sydney Bike Show 2007 and since then have had a great response. 85% of members, who obtain quotes, accept the policies based on price. Unfortunately I can not beat every price in all circumstances but am working towards it.

Just before Christmas I was unfortunately made redundant from my place of employment. My biggest concern at that time was keeping Ulysses Greenslips alive. The Insurer has been a great support and we managed to keep it going but I needed a permanent solution urgently.

Monaland Pty Ltd has been created so we fulfill the Insurer requirements as they can only (officially) deal with a registered company. My partner, Kevin and I will continue to provide the Greenslips as a part time business which means after work hours. Feel free to contact us after 5.30pm or weekends or by email to obtain a quotation or accept a policy. The RTA is electronically notified within 30 minutes and we will email/send the receipt to you. If you have an urgent request and you can not wait until after 5.30, our mobile number is also listed and we can arrange the policy throughout the day but please - only in urgent circumstances.

For all the members asking about Comprehensive Bike Insurance, I am still discussing this with an Insurer and when the product is ready, we will let you all know.

As a thank you for the support, CIC Allianz and Monaland Pty Ltd is giving away 5 Greenslips at the Townsville AGM but you need to register before 23/05/2008. You can register now even though your bike registration is not due yet. We will send you the quote 1 month before it is due. You will need to provide:-

Name.

Address (including postcode).

Registration Number.

Due Date.

Engine size of the bike.

Year, make and model.

Email address.

Phone Number.

All this information is on our website – www.monaland.com.au.

Can I please ask you to make this link available on your website/newsletters so we can get the information out to as many members as possible as this facility will only survive with the support of the members. Can you please remove any reference to All Class Insurance as they are no longer involved with Ulysses.

We wish you all the very best for 2008.

Cheers

N.S.W. COMPULSORY THIRD PARTY (CTP) INSURANCE DEAL

Member enquiries regarding the Ulysses Club exclusive deal for N.S.W. CTP Insurance with CIC Allianz should go to http://www.monaland.com.au/ for more details.

Some interesting statistics on the progress of the deal to date are as follows -

Total bikes on the register since inception on 4th November 2007.........................376

Total number of quotes provided for bikes due before 15th January 2008...............127

Total number of accepted quotes due before 15th January 2008.............................115

This is an extraordinary unprecedented acceptance rate of 91%.

10.  MEMBER BENEFITS.

Branch Secretaries now have a new Members Register in their possession; it looks great and the new changes welcome.

I have been in contact with several businesses that use our logo and/or our Club name on merchandise they offer for sale. I have outlined our licence agreement policy to them.

Hardcore Biker accessories have been requested to remove the Ulysses Adventure Before Dementure patch from sale.

I had requests from members and embroiderers who wish to use the Old Man Logo in conjunction with other logos and nick-names.

As well as the obvious logistic problems with sanctioning individual patches, it is near impossible for an embroiderer to reproduce the Old Man Logo with legible lettering on a patch less than 45mm in diameter.

Members should also be aware that it was resolved at a Natcom meeting on the 31 of March 2001 that inappropriate badges will not be worn by members in the presence of the Ulysses Logo.

The Purchasing Officer’s Report and Member Benefits Report were moved on the motion of Pete Williams and seconded by Jan Bedola.  Carried.
