The ride to Stanthorpe was handed over to Loan A Ranger by Al, who had a conflict with another ride. So, on the appointed day, Ashley attended the BP Blacksoil and waited to see who was going to Stanthorpe with him.
And waited. And waited. Unfortunately, by 9.10 am it seemed obvious that nobody else was going, but this did not deter. After all, there would be no issues betwwen the ride leader and tail end charlie, corner marking was easy, there would be no hassles of losing anybody......
So, and I will now write in the first person, I headed off to Stanthorpe, flying solo. I rode through to Warwick, where I fueled up and headed off once again. Once in the vicinity of Stanthorpe, a wine tour was on. I visited Captain Thunderbolt Farm Winery, Ballandean Winery, The Castle Glen Winery, the olive place, with several other stops along the way also. The final stop of the day was of course The Bramble Patch, for waffles (pronounced like Eddie Murphy in Shrek)! After a lightning tour of Stanthorpe and a number of its wineries, I headed back home via Warwick and Aratula, fueling up at the BP Aratula just after dark.
Short and sweet, but with only one person it was still a lot of fun. And the panniers were filled with wine for the trip home! It was meant to be an overnighter, but with the memorial ride the following day and no other attendees, I decided a day trip was enough! |
