Jen & I woke to a cloudy day, I thought we might get wet, but Jen was adamant we go as we
have done the last two years.
As we arrived at the BP Blacksoil we already had two waiting, Wendy & Phant, we fuelled up then joined them to wait for any others to arrive. Soon there were more friends turning up, Birdy,
Bruce, Jeff, Lloyd & Margaret, Thursty, Andrew, Ann & Paul ( sorry if I got any names wrong). All up we had nine bikes and a trike.
As I led the ride last year I thought I may as well put my hand up to do it again. We had a good
run with most of the lights & we all managed to stay together & arrived safely.
The service was about half an hour away from starting so we all collected our badges along with
our lollies, raffle tickets & bottle of water, then all of us proceeded to go in & get a seat. The weather
was kinder this year & it was alot more comfortable than last year.
Ken Lowis the Pastor from the Redlands branch started the light-hearted service, there were
raffles & singing & a talk from "The Fat Boy" with many references to movies/TV shows like Easy Rider,
The Fonz, Wild Hogs even The Simpsons.
After the service, morning tea was a fantastic spread of savories & sweets, tea, coffee & cordial.
At about 10:45 the ride to go for lunch started, the destination this year was Redlands Sporting
Club. Apparently, Victoria Point Pub (the venue last 2 years) won't let you in wearing bike gear, as it
upsets the older patrons! Pastor Ken said “We are the older patrons aren't we!!!"
Jen & I decided to head home & visit some friends along the way. We hope everyone else
enjoyed the rest of their day & arrived home safely.
Vic.
