Mt Mee - 10th August

Another fine and cold Sunday - perfect weather for a ride! And so it was, with 28 bikes and some 40 people attending at Blacksoil BP, eager to follow Lubo and Kath to Mt Mee. At 9 am, the largish convoy of bikes hit the road heading through Fernvale and out past Splityard Creek, bound for the first designated stop at the Ulysses Memorial Garden at Lake Somerset. A brief regroup stop short of Somerset and we all rolled into the car park in fine form. After a 20 minute stop for a smoke and chat, we all mounted up again and headed for the next stop at Kilcoy. The big group split into a few smaller ones and descended upon several cafes in the little town. Interestingly, the yowie in Yowie Park was once again missing his goolies! Half an hour of leisurely conversation, food and drink saw the group leaving Kilcoy and riding along the winding road through Woodford. Then we started climbing the mountain up to Mt Mee. Fantastic scenery, dairy farms, a few twisties - what more could anyone ask for?!
So we all arrived safe and sound at the car park at Mt Mee, tucked away in the state forest. The sun was warm, the scenery breathtaking and the fellowship very welcome. The old sawmill building (a huge corrugated iron structure called The Gantry) made an excellent backdrop and was a big talking point, and we all enjoyed a relaxed lunch and really enjoyable time. A little after 2 pm, we mounted up again and our little convoy wound its way down the mountain to Dayboro for a fuel stop for those who needed it. Then off home via Mt Nebo. The group separated on the ride up the mountain, with the faster bikes enjoying the twisty bits and the slower riders enjoying the picturesque scenery. All in all a fantastic day, great middle distance ride and excellent example of fellowship among Ulyssians. A huge thank you to Lubo and Kath for such a brilliant ride, to Sheriff Ado for lugging a lot of gear in a trailer behind his flash new VTX1800, and thanks to all the riders for coming along and making it such a special day.

Can-Am Spyder no motorcycle
Is it a motorcycle, is it a convertible, is it a trike, or is it some sort of mechanical stick insect?
It's none of these; it's the three-wheeler Can-Am Spyder and, for the moment, you need a full motorcycle licence to ride the $25,990 vehicle. But that could change.
