The tavern are doing a $10 menu for us from 6pm, with a choice of 250gm t-bone steak, grilled fish or chicken kiev, with chips and salad or vegetables, and includes tea or coffee. Meals will be served in our meeting room, and all they ask is that when we are finished we stack our empty plates on a table they will set up, so they are not walking through the room while our meeting is on.

Ken "Mac" McLeod

It is with very Heavy hearts that we sadly announce the passing of Ken "Mac" McLeod.

Mac was a long time member and one of Mt Lindesay Branches favorite sons.

Mac was voted in as President of the club in 2008 but had to stand down a short time later due to health issues.

Mac & his beloved wife Sheila "Tec" would always be at the tail of the pack as Tail End Charlie ensuring no one was ever left behind.

Mac loved the branch and his Harley having it converted to a 3 wheeler so he could keep riding when his health was failing

Mac was always quick with a joke and left an marked impression on eveyone he met. After a long fight with cancer "Mac" passed quietly on 24/01/2012.

Sad Condolences to Sheila and family.

Rest in Peace Mac you will always be in our hearts!

Mac's Funeral will be held on WED 1st of Feb

Ride Reports

Ride Report - 15th January 2012 Bribie Island

Under a foreboding sky the day started well with 15 bikes, two trikes and some new faces ready to start the 2012 social ride calendar.

We will have to chip in and purchase a new alarm clock for Wayne and Donna as they only just made the departure by the skin of their seat. Rowe must have known something as he peeled off just 500m metres after the start with mechanical issues.

We headed out along the western freeway through The Gap and onto Samford for a coffee break and the donning of wet weather gear.

With just a light drizzle we continued through Dayboro and Mount Mee joining the D’aguilar highway near Woodford where the rain gods where not so kind and the heavens opened up. Colleen and Chrissy demonstrated how to win at trike figure skating after scooting through a large body of water on the road, Colleen later commented on the spray had wet her pants, however watching her manoeuvre from behind I think it may have been more than water.

We crossed the Bruce Highway at Caboolture where we picked up our fearless leader and Honorie then continued onto Bribie Island Surf Club for lunch. The place was a full house and for good reason, the meals and service where fantastic.

“Chivalry is not dead” were the comments by the women surrounding Dave Mc and Stoney, getting drinks, ordering lunch and opening doors, seems there maybe a lesson here to be learned by some of us…..well me anyway….. apparently. Although I thought I did alright….apparently not…After a hearty lunch we adjourned down to the beer garden to work off lunch with some dancing to the live band.

As the sky became increasingly darker, it was decided to head for home down the Bruce Highway where it was every woman and child for themselves dodging the onset of rain again. It is at this time I would like to point out that if the weather even remotely looks like rain and you have a choice between a full face and open face helmet, DO NOT WEAR AND OPEN FACE HELMET WITH ONLY A PAIR OF SUNNIES FOR PROTECTION. It is quite an experience.

Anyway the rain could not stop us from having an event free and enjoyable day. Thanks to Dave Mc as our ride leader and Graham as tail end Charlie.

Ride Report - Queen Mary Falls 14 August 2011

Six bikes and two trikes showed up for the ride on Sunday, with Rick and Julie as Ride Leaders. The weather was looking promising, or at least I thought so, because Saturday had been such a warm, sunny day. How wrong could I be....

First stop Aratula for coffee, chat and catch up. The boys sat at one table, as is the Aussie tradition, and the girls at another. But Rick decided he wanted to be one of the girls and sat with us. We tried to scare him away with women's talk but this man does not scare easily.

Then we rode straight through to Queen Mary Falls as it was getting close to lunch.

Some of us decided to do the walk to the falls. While some, who I shall not name, decided to be slack asses and not go.

We trekked off down the mountain and everyone admired the view of the waterfall from the platform. Then we walked further down the mountain to enjoy the view again from the bottom. Many photos were taken. So far, so good.

It was then decided that being the super fit elite athletes that we are, that we would jog back up the mountain at a fast and mighty pace. We accomplished this feat with ease although our thighs were hurting a tad when we got to the top (as it is a very steep climb) but surprisingly we barely broke a sweat. We then went to the cafe, ate deliciously healthy salads and rode home under a warm Winter's day sun.

Is that enough bullshit, Good. This is actually what really took place. We moaned and groaned, huffed and puffed, whinged and whined, mumbled and grumbled and had to stop numerous times to try and catch our breath. Our thighs were caning and we were sweating profusely. We just about collapsed with exhaustion (except for Sam!). Then with what little energy we had left in us, the excuses began. "I work in an office all day, I'm not used to this", "That's it, I'm going to start walking again every night", "I think I better give up smoking", "It's very difficult with bike boots on" and so on and so forth. Then it was suggested that I had misled everyone and taken the wrong route. I told them that we were in fact lost and started to "Cooee" hoping this would stress everyone out even more (he he evil laugh). Anyway, we finally stumbled up to the top of the mountain. We had worked up quite a bit of an appetite so we then went to the cafe and ate burgers, chips and all sorts of crap so that we could try and feel normal again.

Then it was time to ride home. Bums back on the bikes and down the goat track at which point we ran into Debbie's relatives who were holding up the traffic so we stopped to let all the cows cross the road (that's what Wayne said don't blame me). It then started raining after we left Boonah.

And so ends another ride leaving me wet, exhausted but happy : GYPSY

RIDE REPORT CLIFTON 29 MAY 2011

With dire predictions of rainfall for Sunday, it was at the last minute and with some trepidation Twopots and I decided to go for the ride. Two things won us over. Firstly, we hadn't been for a decent ride for a while and, secondly, we always enjoy a bit of a belt through the countryside. So with that in mind my wet weather pants were ceremoniously packed. Now the trick is that it only rains whenever I don't pack my wet weather pants. And true to form, it didn't rain at all: this is Murphy's Law.

All up about 11 bikes turned up. First stop was Gatton where we realised we had picked up a couple of other riders on the way. Hung around there for about an hour while some decided to have a browse through the museum/gallery and others enjoyed a chat and coffee in the sunshine. Klaus and Skippy decided to head home from there.

Then it was straight through to Clifton. Beautiful countryside here although the road was a bit rough in places. No rain yet but clouds are forming above, however, all is good because I know we are operating under Murphys Law.

Upon arriving at Clifton we incidentally met another Ulysses Club from Warwick who were a very friendly group of people indeed and quite keen to tell us about their upcoming events. One of them foolishly tried to convince me to attend Xmas in July in Warwick, which suggestion I politely declined particularly when he informed me that the weather would be minus something. No way Jose.

Anyway, a few of us had a very pleasant lunch at the pub which I must say was absolutely delicious food. Others picnicked instead. It was then decided by the group to head back home down the Toowoomba Range.

Thanks Graham for a good day's ride.

Team Moto ride day at Lake Wivenhoe by Graham Vayro.

Pam and I arrived early as I had booked for the first ride and needed to register by 8:30. It was a very cold ride up, although it turned out to be a beautiful autumn day. The Team Moto organization and registration process was well organized and efficient. I soon had a wristband with my two rides marked. These are simply my first impressions after a short 20 minute ride. I am not a representative for any company. My own bike is a ST1300 so I needed to get used to the cruiser style without a windscreen for these rides.

I rode the Honda VT400 LAMS cruiser first and was immediately very impressed with the excellent finish. It appears to be exactly the same as the 750 Shadow, with a reduced engine capacity. It was an attractive Blue and white colour scheme and Pam immediately decided it would suit her. After all looking good is far more important than technical issues. I found the bike very light to hold up and easy to move around. It is far easier to balance and ride than the ST1300. The engine was very quiet, and not easy to tell it was running with all the others making noise nearby. That also means it doesn't vibrate like a Harley at idle. On starting off, I found the throttle, clutch and brakes very smooth and predictable and it was a very pleasant bike to ride. The 400CC engine was not going to pull arms from sockets, but it was certainly responsive enough. Stopping at the highway was easy and everything operated as I would expect. The ride was about 20 minutes, on perfect roads in perfect weather around the Wivenhoe area. The gear changes were extremely easy and quiet. It concerned me that it changes far more smoothly than my ST1300. I think the Honda would cruise happily all day at about 90 - 100k, but there would not be much reserve left. I think it would struggle a bit on some of the Ulysses rides I have done, because its cruising speed is a bit slow. It would probably go to 110kph on a flat road, but I doubt it would be happy at that speed. If you are not into speed, I think it would be an excellent learner bike, and seemed to me very easy to ride and predictable.

My next ride was the Hosung 650 LAMS cruiser. Unfortunately for Team Moto, there were a few issues with this bike. The Neutral light came on in various gears and at random times. The engine feels more potent and there is definitely more vibration. I found the clutch and brakes were not as smooth or easy as the Honda, but if you had never ridden a Honda it would be a great bike. The obvious difference is the power. The Hosung would easily achieve 100kph. It was not as easy to ride at 15kph because of the jerky throttle response, and the brakes felt hard rather than progressive. It did look the part however and if it had a two tone paint scheme, Pam would be more impressed. It was a 'feel good' bike with firm seat and wide bars. The hard ride even felt like the 650 Triumph motorcycle I rode about 1965, but memory is a strange thing.

The Day was perfect and we met a few Ulysses people we knew and made new friends. Pam's choice is definitely the Honda. Congratulations to Team Moto on excellent hospitality, great organization, and good food and drinks.

Ride Report Nimbin via Kyogle

Thirteen Bikes meet at the Coffeee Club where our Ride Leader Popeye took on a different look going back to his days as a rejected hippy (stay on your medication please). With Paul as tail end charlie we set off to Beaudesert to meet up with Wayne, Donna and Jeff, now Jeff rides one of those funny looking Trike things so Jiggles wasn't feeling left out.

16 Intrepid souls set out on Sunday to test their skills in what was forecast to be a wet day. The gods weren't too angry with us, and the day started out misty rain, but got more consistent and drizzly as the day went on. At least it didn't dampen our spirits.

David and Caroline who were our ride leaders for the day, showed off their artistic side by fancying up their silver stead with some pretty decals...looking good. We stopped for a coffee break at Kyogle before venturing on to Nimbin. Here a young entrepreneur ( ?10yrs old) tried to sell his mate to us, but there were no takers. Pam couldn't resist the urge to shop and the coffee was goooooooooood.

Why are there so many corners.... what we need is a ride that is only on straight roads.... I daydream.

When we arrived at Nimbin, we had an opportunity to venture throught the town and get some lunch before meeting up again. A stroll down main street saw us enjoying the intoxicating aromas emminating from certain buildings and these weren't all food and incense....ah fond memories! ET took the opportunity to blend in with the locals by wearing a knitted beanie with attached dreadlocks - might have succeeded but the bike wet weather gear was a giveaway. Coleen is to be congratulated on her talents in speed eating after waiting almost an hour for her lunch to arrive, only to find she had 10 mins to eat and be back at the groups rendeazous point ready to leave on the trip home. Well done! a true accomplishment. Lindesay ( our club mascot) couldn't resist the temptations of Nimbin, so much so that his fur turned purple from too much indulgance.

Wayne (Widdles) travelling behind Coleen was kept busy not only dodgying the numerous potholes on the poor road surfaces but had to avoid getting more drenched from Coleen's rooster tails that she sprayed up. The roads in this section of NSW, required both concentration to stay not only upright but actually on the road - made it very difficult at times to enjoy the scenery (through the grey misty rain). The shuddering that our poor bikes/trikes & bodies were put through means that the only way to make sure that our rides are safe for next time is to sit down with a coldy or two and a box of spanners and go over the entire bike to check for any missing nuts or bolts.

Mostly steady drizzle for the return trip until we got to the boarder, we rode into beautiful Numinbah valley which we could actually see as the rain had ceased, the sun cheekily poked it's head out from behind the clouds almost blinding us for a second or two.

David got a roasting from Caroline for spinning his wheels when taking off from a stop sign, he blamed it on an oil slick - yeh sure Dave. Two female pillion passengers took the opportunity to practice their bull riding techniques when their riders took off rather fast and the girls weren't ready and alls that could be seen was the girls legs up in the air and their heads thrust back. Of course the riders blamed the girls for not hanging on properly and........ so resulting from that, the riders have now been challenged to swap places and experience what the pillion does.

Ben was lucky the sheriff wasn't on the ride this day or he'd be owing his next week's wages in fines for riding with his blinker on and on and on for many many miles, he blamed his GPS for obstructing his view of his insturment panel and couldn't see the light, naughty GPS. All in all, a good day, good ride, great company and we have the photos to prove it.

Night Ride Sat 09/04/2011

The Riders met at the Browns Plains Coffee Club as usual. From there we set off on our ride to Peter's fish Market on the Southport Spit. There were 16 Bikes and also 1 car, the car was being driven by Gadget who by the way is currently incapacitated, he was acting chauffeur to 2 gorgeous girls that were thoroughly enjoying being spoilt.

The tail ender's getting and eating their meals were Caroline, David (Popeye) Pam and Graham. On the other end of the scale, the starving Biker, can you guess? A clue - he is a big guy! (in nature and size) can you guess yet? You know the one we call our President, yes that's right Peter "Thunder" He claims as he is the President of the club that he needs to ensure our well being, so had to test the fish and chips to be assured of the quality of these, before allowing his team to indulge. Ha! Ha!

News Flash!!! Romance is the air Sam and Ben, Sam is ever so happy to flash her left hand and blind all in sight with the Diamond on her finger. Sam is looking forward to dragging Ben down the isle with his ball and chain attached in September next year. We do wish them all the very best for the future and know that they will be very happy together.

Karen, the lovely wife of Russell is proud to show that she has no trouble in determining Caroline's Cup size "C" for further information on this escapade please visit the web site, brilliant photography.

As we munched through the Fish and chips that were thoroughly enjoyed by all, our dinner was accompanied with plenty of laughter and chatter. We continued our journey back, and at Ormeau indulged in Coffee and Ice cream before commencing our journey home.

Our brave and illustrious leader "Thunder" and co rider, his beautiful wife Ann, lead the way and keeping up the rear as Tail End Charlie, was David alias Popeye and his beautiful partner and passenger Caroline.

Warning to all!!!!! Should Peter, " Thunder " come near you before a ride and ask you for your hand, be scared, be very scared. Run as fast as you can, faster than you can say "Jack Robbinson" or your arm will be forcibly raised in the air and you will have volunteered to be Thunder's ride reporter. Ssh!! SSh! Don't tell Thunder but it really is fun!!

Thank you for a Great Night Cheers

Eumundi Markets 02/04/2011

Featuring stupidity, age and gravity

Despite weather predictions the morning dawned nice and clear so we ditched the wet weather gear and headed off to meet our mate Gary. Then of to the Coffee Club to see who had ventured out. 15 people on 10 bikes left the Coffee Club at 7.30am led by Russ and followed up be Dave (Popeye) and Carolien and yes Russ remembered which way to turn to get to the Gateway.

A pleasant ride along the highway encountered STUPIDITY when Russ thought we'd take the left lane before Caboolture as it was flowing great only to find it slow down as soon as we were all in it, so back to the fast lanes aye Russ.

1st stop at the BP service centre at Caboolture for coffee and b******t where friends of Paul and Denise joined us. It was here that AGE joined us as Popeye was in go forward instead of go backward but did stop before meeting the car in front.

Back on the highway for a smooth ride to Eumundi were we parked out back of Joes Watering Hole and here we found GRAVITY when Graham parked his bike on the hill and only the brave actions of Pam puting her body on the line averted disaster.

Off for a quick beer then a stroll round the markets were I found, with Thunders help a plaster replica of Russ's head. Back at the pub we all sat down to a nice meal and drinks while sitting back and listening to the sounds of UNCLE BOB'S PUB BAND and if you want a relaxing Saturday afternoon this is the place to be.

Left a bit after 2pm and headed back to the BP for fuel for those that needed and a rest in the shade. Got to check out Ricks Thunderbird which got Russ thinking that I need to earn more $. Back on the road we all headed back to our respective suburbs with those leaving as required.

All in all a really nice day with some nice people and Thunder and good weather

I think this is one of the very few times I have been to the Sunshine Coast where it hasn't rained or we've been stuck in a traffic jam

Karen (Russ's better half)

Yamba Weekender 19-20/03/2011

The dawn sky was grey but it didn't curtail the enthusiasm of 16 bikes, 3 cars & 30 bikers when we headed off down the highway towards Chinderah for a short 'Bum Rest'. A little dampness was encounted on the first leg..

Two-Pots was the illustrious ride leader & directed us all the way to the lovely little sea side village of Yamba after a welcome breakfast at Macca's Ballina. A little more dampness now...

We had no trouble finding accommodation thanks to Thunders pre-booking for the group at the Yamba Waters Holiday Park. Great villa & studio apartments that were really comfortable. Klaus & Pat were keen to camp out in the tent but the humidity was rising & chose to indulge in the luxury of a firm bed with a roof. Drizzle was fairly steady now....

Thirst quenchers the next order of business so the girls volunteered to go shopping for us before the men passed out from dehydration. After Target, Woollies & god knows what other shops tempted the thoughtful ladies the liquor shop was forgotten. A couple of the men borrowed the car to go to Liquorland & came back with the grog & prawns. Things getting moist now, still drizzling.....

Conveniently, the BBQ area was under cover providing us with a sheltered spot to feast & laugh with each other over exciting games brought to us by Thunder. Pole in the Hole was an event which hosted several hilarious rounds resulting with the first team across the line winning. Bum Darts, came after a few more drinks so some of us could get brave enough to stuff 50c pieces up our bum crack. We can't say who won due to the entire evening being a blurr by now, but I do remember prizes were given out in the form of a Medal supplied by Ma. Who cares that its still raining....!***

Most of us woke to the smell of delicious bacon & eggs with all the trimmings cooked by Two-Pots, Two-Stroke & Fingers. Yum Yum.. Our riding gear was dry but I think, not for long......

We all met at the front gate for the journey home & followed the tail lights of the bike in front. Riding through the country, despite the rain, in that part of the world is really special & even though it was as wet as a fishes a*hole we all enjoyed the experience. A trip that will be done again, only some sunshine please Mr Ride Co-Ordinator.

Ben & Sam

Byron Bay 09/03/2011

We meet at the Coffee Club for a briefing before we started out with 8 bikes to Byron Bay...with Ben our ride leader and David is tail end Charlie.

Our first stop, BP Chinderah for a stretch and a chat. We then continued to our next stop being the Humble Pie for a bite to eat. Here we had a local join us for a feed, a frilly lizard under the table where we sat. This lizard had proved how much he loved the chocolate slice Wayne was feeding him.

We had then continued on our way to Byron Bay, with 2 bikes leaving the ride.

Whilst sitting in the hot sun with traffic going nowhere into Byron Bay, who stops by....two pots and two stroke. Finally get moving into Byron Bay, parked the bikes and headed for the pub for a cold drink and a bit to eat.

While the girls went for a walk to the shops the boys stood by the shade of a tree in the cool sea breeze with lots to see.

Ben and Sam stayed the night in Byron Bay. Hope you guys found a nice place to stay ;-)

Time to head home, refuel just outside of Byron Bay.

We had stopped for a cold drink at BP Coomera before saying our good -byes.

As we passed Yatala I had noticed the temp was 33? at about 4pm.

Apart from the heat it was a good day with great company.

Wayne and Debbie
