Run I am not sure just how many bikes from our group went, I
left approx. 8am Sunday Morning. Not a bad run down - a bit overcast but just
right for a ride. Met up with other bikes on the way down. They lined all the
bikes up and then the rain came down just for a few minutes, but it didn’t
dampen anyone's spirits. The ride into Newcastle was great, people lined the
Maitland Rd all the way to Nobbies. This year they lined us up down Wharf Rd. I
met up with Oigy, Maurie & Kerry, they told me that McGee’s were also
there. Anyway it was another good day. Just remember on 9 March 2003 the Tinned
Food & Blanket Appeal Run is on. this is another great cause. Bear
Brooklyn Ride Report
The Faithful went to Brooklyn for lunch. We gathered at Macca’s in the
morning and headed out into a beautiful Spring morning. It was decided that we
should go via Wollombi for a quick stop, down Bumble Hill to Yarramalong (an
official postcode), onto the F3 Freeway and on to Brooklyn. One person had a “Senior
Moment” and had to play catch up in the traffic - guess who? Yours truly.
Actually I was watching some senior motor vehicles of about my vintage and
missed the turnoff to the Freeway. One becomes mesmerised at 70kph, doesn’t
one? So we arrived in Brooklyn, no parking, sorted ourselves out and enjoyed a
lovely lunch. Gai very graciously allowed me to eat her lunch and I, just as
graciously, allowed her to eat mine - good thing that they were the same. Mark
doesn’t like bugs, he says. Isn’t that what friends are for? We really are a
great bunch of clowns. Clowning around was not allowed on the way home because
the Old Pacific Highway is now signposted at 70kph and the guy in front of us
made sure we obeyed the speed limit. Don’t we always? Got to Kulnura and we
all “did a runner” for Wollombi - a certain blue bike missing. Dianne told
Mark that he was a “bugger” for speeding - I thought he didn’t like them?
Came home through Cessnock & Branxton. Max & Lyn did afternoon tea as
usual. We had a lovely time, all’s well that ends well.
And so it is told. Next time, John.
Belmont 16’ Ride Report
As only 3 bikes and 5 bodies turned up, it was decided to go to Newcastle and
see what we felt like doing on arrival. We showed Bear and Lyn as a silent
passenger (her intercom was not working) some new back roads to Warners Bay
where a very pleasant morning tea was had by the lake. After some discussion, it
was decided to go to Morisset Mega Market for a wander about and some lunch. On
the way home I managed to get us lost twice in 5 minutes, but we survived and
arrived home safely after a refreshment stop at Max’s place. Another good ride
with Lyn having 4 attentive males to do her every bidding (Ha Ha HA).
Ogy.
Forster Ride Report
There were 11 bodies and 9 bikes on the ride to Foster, with forecast 39
degrees and arvo thunderstorms. Headed off in great weather across to the coast
highway. Had a stop at Bulahdelah for smoko, when John McGee realised he had
lost his wallet. He really should have adult supervision constantly. After a
couple of frantic phone calls he located it at McDonalds Singleton, where some
honest person had handed it in, money and credit cards intact! Then on to the
Forster RSL for lunch. It is a very modern RSL, we arrived about 11.30, had a
drink then went to the Bistro. Left about 2pm for home. By now it was getting
very hot, at Raymond Terrace it was 42 degrees with a hot wind! Anyway we had a
good ride, no thunderstorms, but it was into the pool when we got home.
Regards Dave.
