Bulli/Wollongong

Bulli/Wollongong ride 18/19 September   9 bikes and 16 bodies attended this ride   Perfect weather for the entire weekend.  Went via the Putty Rd, round the back of Sydney and had a lunch stop on the Bulli Pass which had fabulous views from high on the mountain pass looking down over Bulli and Wollongong.   The Wollongong Surf Leisure Resort was very neat and tidy, but our overnight cabins were overpriced, Raylene had expected a spa for her money, but you get that.   Some went for a swim in the indoor heated pool, some went for leisurely stroll around the Resort (ice-cream in hand), some had rellies to visit and then some did a recon of the Tavern across the road to see if it would be suitable for tea.  The Tavern got the thumbs down for our evening meal and the local Bowls Club got our money instead.  George assured us it was a 10 minute walk, half an hour later and very thirsty indeed we arrived (Sandie you have my sympathy if George ever says to you, come on it will only take 10 minutes).  The Club was worth the walk and we had a terrific meal and entertainment to boot.  The entertainment wasn't all supplied by the Clubs paid artist either.  As we usually do, we took over the dance floor and had a ball, all the old hits come one after the other, arthritic joints temporarily forgotten.  New York, New York was requested and Dave got his turn on the dance floor with the 4 volunteer can-can dancers necessary to get him through this song.  Raylene can do an amazing can-can kick, she'd put some younger versions to shame.   A group of us left early (9:30) actually didn't feel early at the time, and apparently missed plenty of fun afterwards.  Raylene got hold of the mike and did some Patsy Cline and sounded wonderful according to those there to witness this event, definately not a wannabe but a very good singer, perhaps we could get her cheap for our Xmas do.   We all enjoyed the Putty Road so much we decided to return home the same way.  Breakfast stop was at a servo which had a cafe and bakery opposite.  Some were good and went to the cafe for a NORMAL breakfast, and some went to the bakery, for example someone had a pastie, danish pastry and a chocolate for brekky!!!! How's that for being disgraceful.   Was a terrific weekend and I am sure it's a ride worth repeating but perhaps different accommodation next time, something for discussion at a meeting.   Thanks for all those who attended, regards Donna McIntyre
