Notorious Nambucca Neurotics
Friday, 13/02/04 as we
left Singleton Macca’s was shaping up to be a bit of a fizzer. Maurie Kramer and
his mate “Pal” with their respective spouses, Val and I left Singleton for
Muswellbrook. The McGees were a little tardy and caught us up at the Brook,
along with Ross Morgan and Carol. Mick Mantle and Beth had ridden up earlier
that day and we met up at Bendemeer. Yes it was stinking hot again but with a
few dozen extra stops none of which included MOOMBI, we arrived safely though
somewhat over done.
Saturday after breakfast we picked three Sat morning sprinters, who arrived at
8:30 on the dot and we set off for Armidale. The morning was cool and weather
perfect save for about 10 klms short of Dorrigo we rode through a pea soup cloud
which just slowed us down a little and helped us keep our cool. Down the
mountain and onto Bellingen for Morning tea come brunch.
We let fly for Nambucca via “Coff’s Harbour” for some, (rides a BMW has a lovely
wife Gai, and has a nick name Bobby) not that I’d mention his name. Some of us
enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in the surf others just a lovely afternoon. We all
met for Dinner at the V-Wall and had a great evening.
Sunday morning saw an early departure for the most, we enjoyed a quiet leisurely
breakfast and rode onto Port for a few days of R/R .
A great weekend was had by all if not they haven’t complained to me.
Once again thank you for your company.
MJC.
Nambucca Feb 04
Well what a great weekend, we opted to go early around 10am up to Gloucester and across to Walcha then to Bendemeer. We had a lovely afternoon by the river in the cool. Most left at 1.30pm and arrived very hot and ready for a drink, but a hot night was had by all. Up early and a big breakfast was put down in front of us to eat, so we did. Over the mountains down the lovely green hills and morning tea at the Butter Factory at Bellingen, a very enjoyable early lunch, then onto Nambucca for a swim and enjoyable afternoon. We changed our minds and decided on takeaway to sit and watch the fish jump with the breeze from the sea, others went to the restaurant and had a meal. Later we were met by many for several drinks by the water and Tony met some people from Singleton many years ago. Great night, Maurie oops, soap on a rope requested by him for the next trip.
Beth and Mick.
Wiseman's Ferry
Wiseman's Ferry Run 8 Bikes and 12 Bodies met at Maccas Singleton to discuss
which way to go. The Putty Road was agreed upon. Left at approx 9am. First stop
was at the Halfway House. There were heaps of bikes congregated there. After 15
min rest we left for the Colo River , another rest. We turned left just out of
the Colo River, great ride to another punt ride, then into Wisemans Ferry for
lunch at the pub( Very Good Feed) Then across on the punt and up through
Mangrove Mountain and down to Wollombi Tavern. Had more refreshment then divided
into two groups , one to Cessnock then to Branxton. The other to Broke then
Singleton. It was a very good days ride. Great company, Good Ride.
BEAR
Tea Gardens
After discussions at the meeting and taking
into consideration the heat and the holiday traffic, we decided to change the
ride for the day. At Maccas we decided on Doyalson RSL for lunch. 6 Bikes and 8
bodies left Singleton, Bear picked up Joy in Maitland. We had a very steady trip
because in our company we had Cass from Denman who is on her L’s on a 250cc
Virago. Leaving Maitland we rode back via Kurri where Bear to his disgust was
overtaken by a Harley. The ride also took Bear time to adjust to changed road
conditions, where he found that the centre line was not continuous, it had gaps,
and the fence posts were not as close together as he thought.(Picket Fences)
Had a short break at Freeman’s Water Holes where we met up with Mark and Sue
Langsford from Singleton, who finished the ride with us. Then onto the Doyalson
RSL via Wyee for lunch and refreshments. After a couple of hours we started for
home, returning via Swansea and the lakes way. Another stop at the driver
reviver for a freebie after which we parted company for home. At this stage it
was getting very hot. After favourable comments about the venue by those
attending, maybe it could be considered to be put onto the ride calendar another
time.
Regards Robbie and Jenny.
