Harrington Ride

Harrington Ride 14/15-8-04 6 bikes and 10 people left Singleton in cool windy conditions. We picked up 3 bikes and 5 more people at Maitland and headed of for morning tea at Dungog. A phone call told us that Ross and Carol were also on route, though they decided to go via the cape to Waughhope, Kew and then onto Harrington. The main group had a few riders miss the short cut and double back to find the leader was now Raylie who took off like a bat out of hell to catch Oigy (the march hare, or is it rabbit??) only to find that he was now behind us. We regrouped at Glouster and then onto Harrington via Taree. Lunch at the Pub (temporary building site) where Uncle and the First Lady won the chook raffle. Some then had a rest, some walked, and the others had a chat ,coffee and Tim Tams. We decided on the Bowling Club for tea where cheap and delicious oysters by the bucketful were enjoyed by some, and heaps of other goodies by the rest. A very good night was had by all. Bear and Joy left us to continue on to Queensland, the rest left for breakfast at Nabiac. Polly and Sally went down the highway to visit mum and the main group went home via Glouster, Dungog and Lambs Valley. From Glouster to Dungog, Disco Duck lead the pack on his Cruiser in honour of perhaps his last ride with us, before he Tanya and Jordan leave for S.A. Thanks for the many a fun time, wishing you good luck for the future, you will be missed………A good fun safe ride was had by all. Sandie and Ros.

URUNGA TRIP 16-17-18th July 2004

Once again the “Browns Cows” tearaways decided to head to Urunga one day early and departed Singleton on Friday 16th July at 121.30pm. There were six bikes and 11 souls in convoy following our fearless leaders Maurie and Sue. First stop was Glouster for a quick cuppa and off again to Walcha, where we spent Friday night. Dave decided to leave the motel early for a coldie and that was the last we saw of him until dinner in the motel restaurant. Dinner and entertainment took our minds off the cold weather down to 5 degrees overnight. Saturday morning was chilly just ask those who saw the icicle formed by a dripping tap at the local servo, we then headed off to Urunga arriving early Saturday afternoon, and met up with Kerry and Ken who had a cold but uneventful trip up from Singleton. Saturday night was a pleasant evening with the dinner at the Ocean View, followed by a few refreshments in the bar, then off to bed to rest up for the trip home. Well most of us went off to bed and there was only one individual who wanted to party, I hope the stubbies he bought didn’t explode in his top box on the trip home. Sunday morning bought clear skies in Urunga, Jim and Ross said goodbye to the rest of the rabble and headed north, while the other six bikes headed home. From all accounts the weather conditions turned atrocious and at Port Macquarie the wind nearly blew some intrepid travellers into the Armco railing it was gusting that hard. Fortunately all eventually made it home without mishap, except for Jim and Colleen who after leaving Urunga went on to Brisbane and returned home via the New England Highway and suffered a rear wheel puncture. Luckily it was near the Parkland Motel not way out in whoop whoop, Colleen offered to push him home but Jim graciously declined, and the son in law came to the rescue. Cheers SIM-00

FOSTER RIDE REPORT 1-8-04

7 bikes and 12 bodies left Singleton on a slightly foggy morning which cleared almost immediately after we got under way, into a beautiful sunny day. Joining us for the ride were new members Mick and Raelie on separate bikes, also one brand new bike being run in( Terry and Sandra) Travelled to Dungog , had a refreshment stop, then onto Foster via Glouster and Nabiac. A nice lunch break was had by all at the Foster RSL. Return trip via Lakes way, Booral, Clarencetown, Lambs Valley and home. Upon having a slight hiccup regarding one of our waiting points, the President and the First Lady had to double back and check on the welfare and whereabouts of the rear guard. A great day was had by all, but Uncle has to do more training for a certain member on how to reverse a motor cycle safely. Uncle.
