Canberra AGM Ride Report
Well the AGM has been and gone for another twelve
months. There was a group of 21 who departed from Singleton/Bulga on Maurie’s
ride on Wednesday the 9th of March, where our first stop was Colo and we picked
up Col & Sue from the Central Coast. All up it was pleasant ride to Moss Vale
Macca’s for lunch where a new item on the menu [low fat deli style rolls] were
enjoyed by the health conscious among us. When we hit Nowra for a fuel stop I
thought my one good eye was playing tricks on me when I saw two of our crew
start pushing Mick and his bike around the service station. I thought this was
some form of stress reliever after sitting in the saddle for so long, but no the
silver ghost had a flat battery. No amount of pushing, swearing, and sweating
could convince it to start, so Uncle came to the rescue with a set of jumper
leads, and we set off again for Moruya for a well earned nights rest. We enjoyed
a nice easy!!! ride down through Kangaroo Valley with Maurie setting a mean pace
and the scooter team not far behind, by this time Col & Sue [on his red ST] had
been passed twice by that pesky scooter and he was not impressed. Col vowed that
that would not happen again, maybe he should clean his mirrors. We hit Moruya
about 4:00p.m. checked in to our digs, all had nice rooms except Pal & Marilyn,
who had standing room only, the room was so small. Complaints to the publican
fell on deaf ears, by the way which were huge, he looked like Herb Evans from
No. 96. Pizza and plonk for tea, then to bed, well nearly everyone went to bed,
except for a few stayers, who ganged up on Herb Evans for changing Pal’s room
with no consideration. I think Herb had a better offer. Next morning under
overcast skys, the bulk of the team headed south to Eden, Uncle, Jenny, and the
Swiss family Robinson decided to take a short cut doubled back to Bateman’s Bay
and cut across to Canberra so Uncle could set up camp. The fog was so bad that
they had to travel in first gear for a while as they could not see more than a
few metres in front of them. The rest of us continued on and the next stop was
Bombala for lunch, where Maurie and Sue can recommend the Raisin Toast.
Eventually made it to Canberra, checked in and took things easy until tea time.
Most of us had chinese it was exceptional, with excellent service. Friday was
registration day for the majority where we met up with Kerry Solman, some took
bikes for test rides, and others did some shopping. We all met up again at
5:00p.m. to catch the bus to EPIC park for tea. Mick decided he needed some cash
and went to the local servo, put his card in the machine, entered his pin number
and nothing happened. After a couple of attempts he asked the attendant if the
machine was working, he was told that it was fine if you wanted to buy a fishing
licence, and that the ATM was adjacent to it. Friday nights dinner went off
without a hitch, except for Jim buying Colleen a new T-shirt, which certainly
caused a few second glances, make that stares. All made it back to the motel
okay and caught up on some much needed sleep. Saturday was do your own thing day
we all went our separate ways, and met up again that evening to go for tea. The
atmosphere was better on the Saturday night with a lot of clubs getting into the
spirit and dressing up for the occasion. The ladies with halos and the guys with
bow ties looked fine and contributed to the nights fun. Congratulations to Tony
& Robyn Bendeich who celebrated 28 years of marriage on Saturday but would not
share their bed with Max, Lyn, Jim & Colleen. I still don’t know how Max managed
to open their door and set up the surprise for them both. Sunday saw us pack up
and head for home, we departed Canberra at 8:00 am and set off into the fog and
cold which stayed with us until just after Goulburn. Thankfully everybody made
it home safely, but all admitted we were very tired. Congratulations also to
Maurie for organising a wonderful 5 days away, good job mate. Until next time
don’t skid on your lid.

St Albans Ride Report.
George and Mildred and Marge and Homer headed off at 9.15am, no one was sure of
the route or venue at St Albans, so a vote was taken and a decision was made to
head for the coast. Travelled through Wollombi onto Brooklyn for lunch. One
missed turn saw us cover a small section of the scenic route twice. A pleasant
day was had despite the presence of plenty of police and traffic Sandi & George
Nambucca Ride Report.
Talk about Bowns Cows, we left Singleton via Armidale, Dorrigo, and onto
Nambucca with trailors, every bike except a chook chaser or a Harley. A BMW with
a new back tyre caught up with us at Tamworth. Fine weather all the way. A
friend of Ross and Carol from Lismore rode down for the weekend, a couple more
bikes arrived Friday night plus one more Saturday morning. After a call from
Menace, Matt and Lyn also came down for a visit on Saturday. We had a very
enjoyable BBQ on Friday and Saturday night, sensible shopping bought the meals
together and the catering was spot on, the only tip would be not to get Simmo to
taste test the food. Plenty of wine, beer, port, ect was kept cool by various
types of man made eskeys with lights out by 10pm.(Must have all been full)
Walking, swimming, bike rides, clubbing or just sitting around was the order of
the day and everyone had a great weekend (Don’t we always??) Rob and Jenny
camped and their amenities key got a good work out. Home Sunday via the highway,
all good things come to an end. Jock and Sandi
