Fraser Coast Odyssey
We left Singleton 7am 8th June, a cool morning, to meet Mark & Di at Murrurundi.Three solo riders [Bear, Dave, & John] had left the day before. Arriving at Murrurundi, there was no sign of our company, checked our phone for a message, and there it was. “A few k”s from home, clutch slipping badly ,turned around, loading everything into the 4wd,will meet you up the road. [A very disappointed man]. Reggie & his mate Col from Grafton were waiting for us at Glen Innes and when Mark & Di arrived we had lunch. Travelled onto Warwick our first overnight stop. The next morning Col left us to travel back home.[An overnight ride for him].We left and travelled up through Toowoomba, Nanango, and across to Maryborough. Checked in and set up camp at the showgrounds.Reggie rode onto Bundaberg to stay with his son and would meet back with us 9am Monday morning.Dave, Bear, & John stayed in town, we met with them for the dinner Fri. night and did not see them anymore afterwards. The place was full of campers, our breakfasts and dinners were professionly provided, there were mobile food vans on site, endless supply of free tea and coffee, guided tours, 2 inches of rain Sat. arvo and overnight. It was a well organised meet & greet and a great weekend. Monday morning all packed up, Reggie arrived back 9am we left for Moree, down through Kingaroy, stayed at Dalby overnight. The next day Moonie, Goondiwindi, Moree. It wasn’t too long before we were in the pools. The next morning Reggie left for home.[This is one amazing 64 year old man, rode to Moree with us for one night and then back home. In a couple of weeks he is doing a seven day out and seven back to Perth and back]. On Thurs. Oigy & Sue arrived, Mark & Di left for home. Fri. George & Sandy, Albert & Ros. arrived. Sat.  Moree 17 & 18 June 2006
1 lonely bike left Singleton at 7.30am and rode to Muswellbrook where we met 2 more bikes ready to go. Donna and Jill were all rugged up just as we were. We left Muswellbrook at 8.15. Donna nearly didn’t get out of Muswellbrook as the car in front of her decided to turn just as she was fiddling with her dials. It was a cold chilly ride to Murrurundi which was our first stop to thaw out. This changed as we went over the mountains to Willow Tree into a beautiful sunny day. We then went onto Bogabri for a fuel stop, petrol for the bikes and chocolate for us (well Donna & I). We had lunch at Narrabri and then onto Moree, arriving about 2.30p.m. We meet up with the others, who had gone up earlier in the week, in the Spa Pools. Of course we then had the obligatory drinks before we went to dinner at the Pub. We all enjoyed our meal with lots of laughs and drinks and then headed on home. Some of the boys decided that they were still full of energy and played Tin Can Soccer on the way home It was a most enjoyable weekend.

Dubbo
What a weekend!!! 14 Bikes, 19 travellers, departed Singleton Macca’s for Dubbo on the 20th of May. First stop was Muswellbrook Macca’s to pick up any members from that area who were coming along for the weekend. Nothing untoward happened in the carpark, as a technical bike drop only occurs when the bike actually hits the ground. This was not the case, as the owner was still holding the bike partially up. [Mick B. take note] We picked up Bill and Joan Tindale at Sandy Hollow, and headed west. Dunedoo was the next stop for morning tea, where there was almost another technical drop [Yamaha owner] from there some decided to go straight to Dubbo while the rest of us decided to take the scenic route through Gilgandra, and on to Warren for lunch, eventually arriving at our Motel after encountering the world’s biggest detour, and many round-abouts. Showered and changed we were ready to meet our hosts at the Macquarie Inn for pre dinner drinks followed by a BBQ put on by the pub. All agreed that the hospitality shown to us by our Western Plains cousins was second to none. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and all enjoyed the meal, drinks, and entertainment. There appears to be a certain amount of jealousy from two of our members who tried and succeeded to remove my belt buckle from my pants. This caused some concern as my pants were still on at the time, and even with the entertainer’s assistance I had trouble regaining my personal property. It was finally returned to me when the threat of ringing the local constabulary had the desired result. We met up with the Dubbo crew at West Dubbo servo at 10:00a.m. on Sunday for a mystery ride in an easterly direction. On the way to Wellington on of our more newer members decided to take a short cut. He cut a corner and headed bush. Lucky for him, there were no fences, potholes, fallen trees, or angry bovines to impede his lack of direction. He then rode back on to the road and kept going, pulling up in Wellington to remove grass, twigs etc, from the front of his bike, and to regain his breath. Morning tea was at the Ballimore pub, then on to Gulgong for lunch. We said goodbye to our new found friends, and headed home, stopping at Merriwa, where this time I had a technical drop, stalled my bike, layed it and Colleen down, and dented my pride. Put aside all the near misses, and technical drops, a great weekend was had by all, and we hope to host the Dubbo Western Plains branch, in the near future. Don’t skid on your lid. Simmo.
