Wisemans Ferry Ride
Wisemans Ferry Ride Report 7 bikes & 11 bodies left Singleton. Two riders were non Ulyssians. Warm and sunny day, all very aware of the double demerit points. Headed off down through Broke, Wollombi and had morning tea at Kilnura, indulged in some wonderful home made tarts and cakes. Good ride through Mangrove Mountain, even better riding along the Hawksbury River watching people water ski. Perfect weather, stopped at the Wisemans Ferry Pub for lunch, such a great day we sat outside in the beer garden. Entertained during lunch by a 2 person band who were extremely good. Sylvia busting to get up and boot-scoot, no other takers, much to her disappointment. Returned home via the Putty and some enjoyed afternoon drinks at Robbie & Jenny's home. Great company, great weather, maybe 2 new recruits, what better way to spend a Sunday.

16th September 06
1 bike left Muswellbrook at 8am. Fuel stop at Singleton before meeting up a Macca’s.2 bikes / 3 people left Singleton 9am. Halfway House the next stop. Hot cuppa & sausage roll with discussion of what to do. No one has a map or knows the way. Roderick would have liked to go away with a heap of bikes for his first weekend ride. Most disappointed so we are thinking along the lines of going to Windsor and back up to see the kids. 1 bike north to Singleton, 1 bike south towards Windsor, next stop Colo fuel stop. While topping up the tank & checking the map on the door some phone calls where made to the kids. WW3 going on. “Buggar that!” was the comment, Phone turned off & a right turn to Kurrajong, Lithgow & Bathurst. A slow lap of the track, lots of memorials up for Brocky. Through the car museum & sign the condolence book. Who organised the accommodation? Top work. Clean room. Bottle shop at the back of the Motel, Bistro & Pub under neath. Pre dinner drinks, couple games of pool, great food & more drinks… 8:15 leave Bathurst back to Lithgow for breaky, Katoomba, Richmond, Windsor, Wiseman’s Ferry, Freeway to Newcastle, then Home. Wonderful Weekend, Great Roads, Better weather. Looking forwards to next time.

Ulysses Club Memorial
Ulysses Club Memorial Service held on the 10/09/06 at Maitland Park. Due to the weather being unfavourable and a howling gale, after a couple of phone calls were made, it was decided to travel to Maitland by car for the memorial service. Thanks to the following for making the effort to go and support such a worthy cause. Donna McIntyre, Bear Davison, Jill Gollan, Ray Addison, Max & Lyn Cherrie, George and Sandi Robinson, Trevor Harrison Gran-daughter Sophie, and Colleen Simpson. It was surprising to see so many other branch members in attendance, due to the conditions, and after interrupting a children's party being set up, our service was moved from the rotunda into a covered shelter. Padre Howard, conducted the service, and after a short prayer, asked branch representatives to read out the names of their members who have ridden on. This was duly performed by Upper Hunter, Newcastle Lower Hunter, Port Stephens and Lake Macquarie branch representatives. On completion a lone piper played Amazing Grace before those present, giving all in attendance the chance to remember those who have ridden on. We then departed for home stopping at Rutherford Macca's for a warm cuppa, and a brief chin wag. Vale departed friends and comrades.

3 day Ride 18th – 20th August 2006
We met up with Sylvia & Keith and Ross & Carol at Maccas on Friday and our three bikes headed to Gloucester via Gresford and Dungog for morning coffee then on to Uralla for lunch. Off it was again to Nymboida - stopping on the way to view the waterfalls, and meeting up with Ann and John from Brisbane, friends of Sylvia and Keith’s. Ann made her presence known and fell off their Harley trying to get off. Accommodation at Nymboida Coaching Station was excellent. After dinner, we all partook in a game or two of darts, until one of our trusty friends decided, she was not going to share the darts and lost one. Next morning it was on the bike again and off to Casino for coffee when John decided it was time to drop his bike once again (we think he will have to grow longer legs). Tenterfield was our next stop for lunch and on to Inverell to meet up with Sandi and George, Donna and Wayne. I hear we were lucky to have Wayne as he was lost in Tamworth (I hear – again) Sunday was another moment for John, on the way to Uralla for breakfast, he ran out of petrol, George and Sandi raced off to get a can to bring back and he (George) dropped his brand new bike but we eventually did make it for breakfast. We met up with Colleen and Jim and Roderick at Nundle for lunch then headed back down the highway home We had a lovely 3 days - the weather was fine - the roads were good with some testing parts at times – and the company was great. 6th Aug 06
3 people, 2 bikes left Muswellbrook at 8am. Fuel stop at Singleton before meeting up a Macca’s. “Better get the rain gear on” was the first order from President Jim, who had to slip home to quickly get his. 4 bikes & 6 people left for Wollombi and a hot drink. Then to Freemans Waterhole via Paxton, Ellalong & Quorrobolong. Just a few sprinkles of rain up until now. A Quick stretch of the legs, answer some phone messages then on to Edgeworth to look at a bike & camper for Shireen’s mid life crisis. Back to Cardiff RSL where we met up with Mick Yule, Chris Garrod, Wally & Partner. We enjoyed a great lunch with plenty of banter and talked of maybe organising some joint rides in the future. All too soon it was time for home so up the highway we went, Keith peeled off at Branxton, the rest back to Jim & Colleens for hot tea & Biscuits. 2 bikes & 3 people headed home to Muswellbrook after a quick top up. A good safe & enjoyable day was had by all. See you next time. Wayne & Shireen.

4th June 2006

Three hardy souls ventured out on the roads that day (a Honda, a Harley & a Suzuki, all nice and shiny). Leaving Singleton about 9:15am after some very serious discussions about the state of the road leading to the main street, (Some road works where being done in York Street and there was about two hundred meters of dirt to negotiate) and a little pep talk from Uncle on his pushy. Roads where dry, clean & clear for an enjoyable ramble through the putty to the halfway house for a quick break then off to Windsor and the Markets. We parked at the pub and had a slow wander up then back through the markets, (about 10 minutes in all), that’s the way to do markets we decided, then off to the Pub for Lunch. Over lunch we decided that we could go a different way home via Wiseman’s’ Ferry. Every boys dream EXPLORING. Some fuel was got by the Harley & Suzuki (Honda’s go forever without fuel stops) then down to Wiseman’s Ferry. Which way do we go now? Right or left. It was getting late in the afternoon by this stage. It was dirt road about 20 yrs ago through St Albans! It must be tar by this stage, so off to the left we went. The first 10 kms of Dirt took an eternity to get to St Albans. Then the sign said 40 odd kms to go..... Needles to say we three intrepid explorers pushed on through Yango National Park dodging the odd couple of 4x4’s coming the other way. Quick smoke break in Wollombi and a check to see if anything had come off or become loose over the corrugations. All three arrived back at Singleton just on dark, relieved to be there safe & in one piece, leaving one tired, dirty rattling Suzuki to venture back to Muswellbrook for an appointment with the socket & allen key sets. A good time was had by all.. Will skip the scenic route next time. Ned
