Taralga Weekend Run 26th October

George Van Den Heuvel

Two groups of bikes headed separate ways to meet up at Taralga for the over night stay.

The first group headed off with George to Lithgow and the Small Arms Factory via the Bells Line road. Hours were spent at the factory looking over the many interesting exhibits covering the guns and other equipment the factory has produced over it's long history. It is well worth the effort if you have never been before. From  Lithgow the group headed to Taralga via Torana and Oberon.

The second group headed straight up the freeway, through Goulburn to Taralga. Once at Taralga the day was spent wandering the streets checking out the local sights.

The next morning the group headed to Crookwell via the Golspie road to meet up with the day run to the Crookwell swap meet. The 6 km stretch of dirt road was challenging and very dusty. Just west of Taralga the group stopped off at the Stone quarry Cemetery. This is a very interesting cemetery which shows some of the history of early discovery in this area.

Thanks George for a great weekend.

Nothing like a quiet country town

to unwind for the weekend

Just 4km out of Taralga on the Golspie road.

The Stone quarry Cemetery is well worth the visit.

Some members stayed in the Argyle Inn Hotel. Reports were it has good accommodation.

The Golspie road left some bikes pretty dusty

You never know what will turn up at a swap meet.

It's good to see these bikes still out on the road.
