Melbourne

Since the Melbourne AGM in July we have had a reasonably quiet time due to cold weather etc., but there have also been some very good rides to compensate for this. My congratulations go to all the ride leaders.

We have a very good calendar for the next three months and I'm sure that the coming rides will be supported in the usual excellent manner. The new committee had their first meeting and several events were discussed and will be included in the next ride calendar.

Elizabeth Street Melbourne on a Saturday morning and pub nights are two of the regular functions that remain popular and I extend a welcome to any member of the Ulysses Club regardless of whether they be local, interstate, Club, or Group members to join in our activities any time and anywhere.

In closing, I would like to thank the outgoing committee for the way they handled their duties. I can assure the Melbourne Branch that it was in good hands, is in good hands, and will be kept in good hands. Ride safe!

Shearwaters

This issue of Riding On ushers in the fourth year of activities for the Shearwaters Group which services region around the two bays of Melbourne, the south eastern suburbs, and south Gippsland area of Victoria.

Our numbers are now over one hundred, social nights attract around sixty members, and ride numbers are growing. The Tooradin Sports Club has recently extended the Bistro, parking is good and the catering has contributed a successful recipe.

For this calendar we have introduced mid week rides for those who are retired or can take the time to participate. This activity alone has attracted new ride leaders and our hope is that it will attract many riders to support them in their efforts.

Mid week rides will depart from a number of different start points for the convenience of more Ulysses members. Start times have been set at a leisurely 10am, and the rides will provide comfortable day's riding and socialising without the stress of weekend traffic and crowds. Initially, one ride per month is scheduled but your involvement and ideas could see this grow to one a week in the future.

Our touring weekends have always been the most popular activity for many of the seasoned riders. These runs suit the more experienced motorcyclist. We don't 'hang about', we cover some great country and we have a lot of fun.

If you haven't used your Ulysses membership by getting involved, and you are in our area, come along to one of our rides or social nights. We look forward to your company!
