Riding On Online

Dawes Underwriting Stay(s) Upright in Joint Initiative...

In an innovative arrangement, the Dawes Motor Underwriting Group now offers substantial discounts to riders who successfully complete a Stay Upright Master Road Skills certification.

Stay Upright, Australia's most forward thinking rider training organisation, will be conducting Master Road Skills courses in major centres. Attendees will be graded on their individual performance during this on-road activity.

Rod Garnett, managing director of Dawes, says, 'Unlike other systems where all course attendees receive small discounts regardless of skills, each rider will be graded in accordance with their performance. Those who perform well will receive increased discounts over those who are less adept at riding.'

There will be a real benefit in achieving a high standard of competency! Dawes offers up to 60% no claim bonus, levies no theft excess and has small excesses. You can choose your own repairer and you can expect premiums which are well below main stream insurance charges, with additional discounts for periodic use and collections. The scheme is open to all machines, and Dawes will continue to provide insurance for riders over 30 who use their European or American machines periodically. These riders are not obliged to complete the Stay Upright certification.

NEW CLASSIC SPORTS..

The new Thunderbird Sports adds another dimension to the already highly successful formula which has made the Thunderbird one of Triumph's best selling machines, blending traditional styling with a higher specification performance package.

'97 Thunderbird 900In line with the bike's more sporting image, top end power has been uprated to 83ps, but still retains plenty of punch from low rev's and retains the evocative three cylinder exhaust note. Performance is further enhanced by the use of a six speed gearbox.

Suspension is fully adjustable front and rear with longer wheel travel than the thunderbird, while the braking has been uprated with twin front discs and twin piston callipers. Wide rims on spoked wheels allow the fitment of modern sports tyres to fully exploit the bike's handling, resulting in a responsive, agile, high performing bike which is a huge amount of fun to ride.

Styling clearly has its roots in the same classic era as the Thunderbird, but unique features such as the flat track inspired three into two reverse cone exhaust, low handlebars, and eye catching paint schemes ensure its own special character.

Changes from the original Thunderbird are substantial and include the front mudguard, headlamp bowl, indicators, perforated chrome airbox covers, foot controls, tank badges and a black finish to the engine and instruments.

To enhance the Thunderbird Sport's originality and practicality, Triumph has produced a range of dedicated accessories. These include a screen, single seat and cowl, passenger grab rail, grab rail and luggage rack combination, fork protectors, alarm, and a selection of chrome items, all available directly from Triumph dealers.
