Greetings,
fellow members! It was heartening to see a good roll up
at our AGM at Long Flat. As always of an informal nature.
John Mills was unable to attend due to other commitments,
however he was voted in as Group Leader for another term.
Which goes to prove if you don't want a job, make sure
you're at the meetings. Yours truly was also elected to
carry on the carrying on!!
We have quite a few new members joining each month. On
behalf of our Group we wish to welcome you and hope to
see you on the rides.
Unfortunately, we have lost another 4 members to the
Lower Hunter Group, Alex & Jan Heath and Mike &
Colleen Aberfield, all moving to Newcastle because of
work commitments. They will be sadly missed, but our loss
will be Lower Hunter's gain.
Our runs have been reasonably well attended , but John
Mills and myself would like to see more Group members try
to attend the Sunday runs to make the days more
enjoyable.
With this issue, I find myself a little rushed because
Wilma and I took a much needed break for 5 weeks and only
returned a few days ago. My apologies for missing the
last bi monthly meeting. The rides for the 4th quarter
had to be put together quickly, although most of the
dates were already taken up, the latter part of the year
being such a busy period.
I would like to remind all our Group members, especially
the new ones, that the most important decision made by
the Group is the ride calendar. We are always looking for
new destinations and new ideas, so if you have something
different in mind please attend a run and let us know
about it, or ring John Mills or myself so it can be
included.
We try to have runs north and south alternately to
include everyone. I must congratulate members who take
steps in the organising of run days.
There were 94 members attending the Christmas in July at
Dorrigo, including 065, 066 and Northern Rivers Groups.
This was most certainly a marvellous event, a great
venue, a great host and a great meal.
A lot of effort was put into the night, starting with
Christmas Carols with entertainment of course. Bob Pitman
took the floor with his usual jest, dressed in bra and
corsets and busting out all over.
I think this venue would have to on the calendar again
next year. The 065 Group returned via Walcha, which was a
very cold and wet trip with just about every piece of
clothing available worn.
We have some important dates to remember. Please check
your calendar - Pilot Beach Special Meeting, Xmas Party
at Hat Head, Natureland Rally, Forster Triathlon, and the
two Toy Runs. If you wish to enter the Natureland Rally
which includes a Saturday run with vintage and classic
bikes, morning tea, lunch and presentation dinner, all
based at Hat Head, entry forms are available from myself
with an end of September closing date. $15 per bike, $6
lunch, $12 dinner.
Keep on keeping on.

Well, haven't we had some rain! Funny how it seems to
bucket down when we have a ride day. We must be living in
bear country cos lots of us seem to be hibernating this
winter. Not too many on our rides but those hardy souls
have a ball... Well a soggy ball! Would be nice if it
fell where it was needed.
The mob have had some good rides , in June we went to
Vaucluse House with 15 bikes and 1 ute. Great ride! Wet,
cold, but definitely not miserable. Didn't lose anybody
in Sydney but those traffic lights are a real pain in the
bum
I was ride captain and missed the turn into the park -
yes, I copped heaps!
Next ride was to Krambach. 6 bikes, cloudy weather,
little bit of the wet, but a great ride and a few tales
to tell. You had to be there!
In July it was off to Patonga for fish & chips. Being
on shift work is a bit of a bugger cos you miss these
rides. Ah well, the pay puts fuel in the bike, so why
complain eh?
August 3 will have been a good time , ending up at Dick
& Lee's for a BBQ lunch. I bet we had a good roll up
for that and I would imagine that there would have been a
little rain. Dick enjoys cooking, as long as there aren't
any more than four. Will let you know how we went!
I was at the Central Coast Group AGM with 4 others from
our Group. Ron Beverly was re-elected president and our
congratulations go to him and the committee. They appear
to be a strong group, and what makes it so pleasing for
us to see them going so strongly is that we consider
ourselves their mother. Well done CC mob, and keep doin'
it well, our thanks for the invite.
Congrat's to the Upper Hunter mob and to new president
Sam Reich. Sam was their publicity officer and I'm going
to miss his ramblings in the newsletter and Riding On.
Knowing Sam, I think he won't be able to help himself and
will put pen to paper.
Congrat's also to Sam and Kav, they missed the bus for
the trip to the wineries in Wagga because of an activity
they were trying to perfect and he knows how to attach
rings. Good one, you two!
Don't forget the campover at Sandy Hollow on the October
long weekend. All members are welcome and if you further
information please contact Charlie Hughes on 049 450 305.
Well, that's about all for this one, the ed. is going to
be pleased. Just have to check on Ruthie blacking the
tyres on the 'Wing. Hugs to all, and be good at it.
