'Tiny' Tim Stewart #8959, National President of Ulysses Club (NZ) Inc. has provided the following update regarding the cancellation of the New Zealand Rally and AGM:

"Following today's red traffic light announcement by the government, We have been placed in a position where we are unable to meet the government restrictions around group gatherings and our AGM.

We have had an extraordinary National Committee meeting tonight, and It is with huge disappointment that we have to announce the cancellation of the 2022 AGM and Rally in Christchurch.

This was not an easy decision to make but we felt that there are no other options available to us currently, with there being no government guidance of how long this restriction will last.

We are also conscious of the fact that many members would be making their travel arrangements over the next 2-3 weeks so wanted to share this news sooner rather than later.

Over the next two weeks we will be formulating a plan of how we can run our AGM without a formal meeting, we will be seeking some legal guidance on this so we are working within the law and the rules of the club. Additionally we will be formulating a plan to arrange refunds with the organising committee in Christchurch.

The good news is that because of plans put into place last year the Bike Raffle will be going ahead, the winner will be advised on the night that the AGM would have been held.

On behalf of the National Committee I would like to thank the team in Christchurch for the hard work and dedication they have shown in organising this event. Your efforts are appreciated and we share your disappointment.

We will keep you posted on how the future weeks will roll out".
